Numbers 11
Numbers 11
1 And the people complained about hardship (in the wilderness) .. and it displeased Yehova for He heard it. And was kindled His anger and burned among them the fire of Yehova and consumed the outskirts of the camp ..
4 The multitude among them yielded to craving (other food because they had only been eating manna) .. and the sons of Israel wept and said, "who will give us meat to eat? 5 We remember the fish we ate freely in Egypt, along with the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic". 10 .. And the anger of Yehova was kindled greatly and in the sight of Moses was evil.
11 Moses said to Yehova, "why have You afflicted Your servant? .. that You have laid the burden of all these people upon me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them that You should say to me carry them? 13 Where can I get meat for all these people? For they weep over me .. 14 I am not able to bear all these people alone because [the burden is] too heavy for me".
16 So Yehova said to Moses, "gather to me seventy men of the elders of Israel who you know are elders of the people and officers over them. Bring them to the Tabernacle of Meeting that they may stand there with you. 17 And I will come down and talk with you there. And I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put upon them. They shall bear with you the burden of the people, so you will not have to bear it alone.
18 And to the people you shall say, 'consecrate yourselves for tomorrow you will eat meat, because you have wept in the hearing of Yehova saying .. how good we were in Egypt! Therefore Yehova will give you meat and you will eat it .. 20 until it comes out of your nostrils and it becomes to you an abomination because you have despised Yehova'".
24 And Moses went out and spoke the words of Yehova to the people and gathered seventy men from the elders of the people and placed them around the Tent. 25 And Yehova came down in the cloud and spoke to him and took of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. And it came to pass when the Spirit rested on them that they prophesised but never did so again.
26 And two of the men had remained in the camp [Eldad and Medad] and the Spirit rested on them and they were among those written but they had not gone out to the Tent. And they prophesised in the camp. 27 A young man ran and told it to Moses and said, "Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp". 28 So answered Joshua son of Nun, ministering attendant of Moses, one of his men since youth and said, "My lord Moses, restrain them". 29 But Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for me?! Oh that all Yehova's people were prophets! That Yehova would put His Spirit on them!" 30 And Moses was gathered to the camp; he and the elders of Israel.
33 While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of Yehova was kindled against the people and He struck them with a very severe plague. 34 So he called that place Kibroth-Hattaavah because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.
